Characteristic of CBT, CPT, BT and SF

The characteristics of the therapies listed is: (1) a cognitive model of emotional response, (2) briefer time limited, (3) Stoic philosophy (except CT), (4) it is structured and directive, (5) based on educational model (ie. learned behavior) and (6) requires homework. Because CBT looks forward and works on today, not looking back or reliving negative experiences, CBT has been useful in treating PTSD in both the military and civilian clients.

Remember you can change your irrational thoughts during any part of the process; at the point of negative thought, during negative emotion and before negative behavior. You can even change it after the negative behavior. It takes conscience thought and practice. Eventually you will usually be able to do it automatically.
